According to the results of the first quarter of 2021, the net income of the National Telecom Operator Vega amounted to UAH 139.5 million. The company continues to develop its business through digital transformation and this direction has a positive impact on financial results. EBITDA increased by 4% compared to the same period last year and exceeded UAH 31.3 million.
The share of revenues from the provision of Internet services and data transmission using modern fiber-optic technologies (FTTx and GPON) in the retail direction continues to grow and for three months of this year it amounted to 47%. Revenue from B2O (Internet + Data) also has a positive growth trend and exceeded 13.1 million. In total, revenues for Internet access reached UAH 42.3 million, of which UAH 39.1 million from optical technologies. Compared to the first quarter of 2020 Revenues from VoIP telephony in the B2B segment increased by 25% due to the active migration of copper services to optical networks and new customer connections.
The national operator is actively investing in infrastructure development, upgrades of equipment and data transmission channels, as well as in long-term strategic partnerships. The company's capital investment in the first three months exceeded UAH 25.7 million, which is 28% more than last year. The beginning of 2021 was especially effective for the provider in expanding the coverage area of the new gigabit network, thanks to which high-speed Gigabit Internet is already available in 150 thousand households in Kyiv, Odessa, Lviv, Dnipro and Zaporizhia.
Gigabit's customer base has also grown significantly. In compliance with all quarantine restrictions and security measures, in January-March alone, Vega specialists connected more than 1,500 subscribers to the new network. As a result, revenues from gigabit customers increased 4.5 times compared to the same period in 2020.

Today, the gigabit Internet, which is not only needed for comfortable remote work and study, but is also the future in the field of Internet communications, is already used by more than 3,600 subscribers. We also continue to create convenient digital business solutions. An important achievement in this direction is the expansion of data storage and transmission capabilities. At the beginning of the year, under an agreement with the data center, which was built in accordance with the international standard of reliability TIER III, Vega received at its disposal for its own projects 200 m2 and 90 racks in a modern data center, it is additional opportunities for Vega customers fault-tolerant and modern telecom services, ”said Murat Chinar, General Director.
In the first quarter of 2021, the company transferred UAH 26.5 million in taxes and fees to the budgets of all levels.
